TEMPGUN.COM- Pro Exotics Temp Gun Operating Instructions
Congratulations on your new Pro Exotics Temperature Gun! The Pro Exotics Temp Gun is a fantastic tool!
The Temp Gun is compact and easy to use. Just aim, press the button, and read the temperature in less than a second! Whether using your Temp Gun to measure RC Cars or Reptile Basking Spots, you hold the button down, pass the Temp Gun over your engine head or basking spot (whatever the application) and find your hottest point!
°C or °F MODE:
To change from °C to °F, first turn the Temp Gun on by pressing the measurement button, then press the mode button four times, the °C or °F will flash, then press the measurement key to confirm the mode.
MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM TEMP MODE:
To use the Temp Gun's minimum or maximum mode, first turn the Temp Gun on by pressing the measurement button, then press the mode button once for minimum or twice for maximum function. The “MIN” or “MAX” icon will flash, press the measurement button again to confirm the minimum or maximum mode. The PE Temp Gun will display only the minimum or maximum temperature of your focus object. This “MAX” feature comes in very handy when looking for that absolute “hottest point”, whether it is a glow plug (RC use) or basking spot (reptile use).
LOCK MODE:
The lock mode is useful for continuous monitoring of temperatures. To use the lock mode, first turn the Temp Gun on by pressing the measurement button, then press the mode button three times for the lock mode function. The lock icon will flash, press the measurement button again to confirm the lock measurement mode. The Temp Gun will continuously display the temperature for up to 60 minutes or until the measurement button is pressed. This feature is handy for continuous temperature monitoring of car engines while tuning or adjusting.
EMISSIVITY:
The PE Temp Gun is supplied with a default emissivity of 0.95. The emissivity of the PE Temp Gun can be changed from 0.01 (1E) to 1 (100E). Changes should only be carried out by experienced personnel. To change the emissivity, first turn the Temp Gun on by pressing the measurement button, then press the mode button five times for the emissivity function. The 95E will flash on the LCD screen, press the measurement button to adjust the emissivity value, press the mode button again to exit the set up screen. But really, don't screw with this.
LCD ERROR MESSAGES:
The Pro Exotics Temp Gun incorporates visual diagnostic messages as follows:
“Hi” and “Lo” readings- “Hi” or “Lo” is displayed when the temperature being measured is outside of the range of the instrument. “Hi” when higher than +420°F and “Lo” when lower than -27°F.
“Er2” and “Er3” readings- “Er2” is displayed when the Temp Gun is exposed to rapid changes in ambient temperatures. “Er3” is displayed when the ambient temperature of the PE Temp Gun exceeds +14°F or +122°F. In both cases you should allow a half an hour for the Temp Gun to stabilize to the working temperature (+32°F to +104°F).
“Er” readings- for all other error messages it is necessary to reset the Temp Gun. To reset, remove the battery and wait for a minimum of one minute, reinsert the battery and turn the unit on.
BATTERIES YO:
The Pro Exotics Temp Gun uses a visual battery life indicator. The battery symbol is in the upper left corner of the LCD display. A fully colored battery symbol indicates full battery life. An empty battery symbol indicates an exhausted battery.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT:
When the battery icon indicates the battery is low, replace immediately with a CR2032 lithium cell. The battery is located under the twist cover on the rear of the Pro Exotics Temp Gun. Please note: It is important to turn the unit off before replacing the battery otherwise the Temp Gun may malfunction. Dispose of the battery properly and keep away from children. Do not swallow or eat the battery. If you do, you're a dummy.
CAUTIONS:
Protect the Pro Exotics Temp Gun from Electro Magnetic Interference from induction heaters and microwave ovens. Keep the Pro Exotics Temp Gun away from static discharge. Do not leave the Pro Exotics Temp Gun on or near hot objects. Do not try and measure the temperature of your best friend's flatulence. That's just gross.
NOTES:
Shiny or polished surfaces can give inaccurate readings. The Pro Exotics Temp Gun cannot measure through transparent surfaces such as glass or plastic (don't be a dope), it will measure the surface temperature instead. Steam, dust, smoke, and other optical obstructions can prevent accurate measurements.
GUARANTEE:
ONE YEAR BABY!
